The closest route, and the best for mixing a hike or a paddle with a waterfront lunch. Everything is within 25 minutes of the inn, so it suits a day you want to keep flexible.
- Maple Bay — A sheltered bay with a public beach, a boat launch and Wilderness Kayaking Co. for rentals and guided tours. The Lion Rampant Scottish Pub on the water does lunch with a view and live music on Fridays.
- Stoney Hill Regional Park — An easy 3 km loop through arbutus and Garry oak to bluffs above Sansum Narrows, with Salt Spring across the water.
- Genoa Bay — A tucked-away marina village: slow lunch at the Genoa Bay Café, a marine store and gallery, and crabbing off the dock (licence required).
- Mount Tzouhalem — Trailheads off Kaspa Road for the cross viewpoint (moderate, 1–2 hours) and the Garry oak ecological reserve, which carpets with camas and chocolate lilies in spring.
- Duncan — Dinner downtown, or the Old Firehouse Wine Bar, then 20 minutes home.
